If I can only choose one motorcycle to park in my garage, it’s going to have to be the Ducati Diavel. This is not my first ride on the Diavel and I can say for a fact that it’s not my last either.
There is just something about the look, power and styling that eats deep into my heart. I simply can’t get enough! When seeing and riding the Ducati Diavel, you experience the passion from everyone involved in bringing it too life. It’s truly one of its kind.
The Diavel’s heart is the Ducati Testastretta 11° Dual Spark (DS). The Testastretta 11° DS engine is the perfect base for the Diavel – Developed directly from the incredibly powerful, world-beating race engines of Ducati Corse.
It’s full of character, and producing tremendous power that give unmatched acceleration, along with smooth and controllable delivery for cruising the boulevard at any speed. It makes for high performance yet a manageable ride and incredibly enjoyable ride.
For all this power to be appreciated, the chassis takes in a very important role. The exclusive Ducati trellis frame has large diameter, thin wall tubing with two lateral die-cast aluminum plates that flow into the rear supporting subframe. The trellis frame allows for just enough flexibility to transfer the power output to the rear wheel without compromising on its handling or comfort.
The Ducati Diavel Carbon might look beastly heavy and even though its wet weight is 234kg (516lb), it’s surprisingly easy to light to handle and move around. It also has a 770mm seat height that allows for a bigger variety of riders, especially once who or a bit shorter to enjoy this powerful machine. The seat is comfortable and specially designed for comfort over longer distances as well
The long, die-cast aluminium single-sided swingarm is the reason why cornering the Ducati Diavel is such a pleasure. With lean angles up to 41° it’s not your typical cruiser. Imagine having the privileged of riding a superbike with the latest technology and exclusive trellis frame, along with single sided swingarm designed to allow for maximum suspension input, whist riding one of the most visibly eye catching motorcycles ever built. It’s a machine that offers you the best of both worlds. It handles well and will never disappoint you in drawing a crowd around it.
Some features that stands out for me is the latest and innovative Ducati electronic Riding Modes.
You get the urban mode, Touring mode and the most exciting one is definitely the Sport mode. With the power reduced to a 100 hp in urban mode, it’s perfect for in town riding.
The Touring mode and Sports mode both deliver the 162 hp but with a smoother and more user friendly throttle delivery in Touring mode. The Diavel is famous for its strength, its power and its ability to provide you with all of it in a manageable way. The most exciting mode to experience all this in, is without a doubt the Sport mode.
